If your linguistics BA included a supervised teaching practicum, then you can probably get by without a CELTA, provided you highlight your teaching practice appropriately on your resume/CV.
If you do not have this key component already, Oxford and other courses that do not provide teaching practice with real students, supervised by experienced teacher trainers will not be adequate to get you hired in some regions.
Asia, I believe, does not really require any specific quals in many cases, so if you are going there, may be no need for certification. Latin America usually does require certification, I think. My experience is in Europe, which is not wide open to non-EU citizens regardless of qualifications due to EU citizen-only hiring restrictions. If you wanted to try for a job in Central/Eastern Europe (where non-EU citizens can legally work) you would definitely need the CELTA or equivalent to compete well in the job market - again assuming you did not do a practicum on your BA.
