TESOL or CELTA in Toronto

Hi all,
I'd appreciate some advice on whether to take a TESOL or CELTA course. My aim is to teach children in Ecuador next summer. It seems that most people think that CELTA is the more valuable certification. My hesitation derives from the cost of a Celta course, the fact that I would have to give up working for an entire month, and the apparent focus on teaching English to adult learners. Is this actually the case? Part of the reason I would like to teach ESL is to gain some relevant experience with children for when I eventually apply to teacher's college.
Just to give you some background: I have a B.A. in philosophy and have experience working as a T.A./tutorial leader for a first year university class.
Many thanks!
