Hello Lynn,
The IDELT is a great course that will qualify you for teaching positions around the world. This course underwent a rigorous evaluation process by experts in TESOL. As a result, it has been recommended for six graduate-level semester hours at over 1,500 universities nationwide, and is accredited through ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training)in the US.
During the 140-hr course, you will get 80-hrs of practicum including six hours of practice teaching non-native speakers, class observation, feedback and guided lesson planning-skills which are highly valued by employers. When you complete your course, you will leave with a complete portfolio including a videotaped lesson which can be submitted to future employers.
One of the major benefits of taking the IDELT is that you will receive job placement assistance from BridgeTEFL for life! Meaning, if you would like to teach in any country that we place in, we will find you a teaching position for free, and will continue to do so anywhere that we have established relationships with employers.
If you can not commit to a four week on-site course, you can look into the IDELT Blended option. This offering is 70-hrs online, and 70-hrs in the classroom. With this course you achieve a nice balance, getting a strong background in TEFL and a solid two weeks with classroom instruction and practice teaching on-site. Whether you take the IDELT or IDELT Blended, you are getting a quality education that is internationally recognized. I hope that this answers your questions, Lynn.
