Just to repeat what I said in my first post:

You do not need to be published or to hold a Ph.D to get a university job in Japan.

I personally know people with only a B.A. working full time and part time in universities in Chiba and Shizuoka.

I also know people with both completed M.A. degrees and those who are in the midst of completing M.A. degrees working at universities in Tokyo and other parts of Japan.

None of them are published teachers.

There are hundreds upon hundreds - if not thousands - of private and national colleges and universities in Japan.

Therefore, it's very unlikely, probably impossible, for anyone else to know the exact hiring situation at all of these schools across the entire country.

The information posted by Paul, while not completely false, is certainly misleading to new job seekers.
